Daniel Mauk is an experienced trial attorney who represents clients in a wide variety of areas, including employment disputes, healthcare and business issues, regulatory matters, and litigation. He focuses his practice in the areas of employment, healthcare, and professional liability litigation. Mr. Mauk also provides risk management and general counsel services for a wide range of businesses in Colorado and nationally.

For employers of all sizes, Mr. Mauk advises management and human resources personnel on all aspects of the employment relationship. He counsels businesses and healthcare practices regarding employment policies and training, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, wage and hour issues, anti-discrimination statutes, workplace investigations, onboarding and termination, and labor relations. Mr. Mauk prides himself on developing strong, long-lasting relationships with his employer clients and providing individualized, practical advice to assist in mitigating risk. And, when an employment dispute arises, Mr. Mauk excels at advocating for these clients in all stages of litigation and administrative proceedings. Mr. Mauk has successfully represented employers against claims under Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, CADA, UTSA, Colorado law, and other employment claims arising in tort and contract.

For healthcare clients and professionals, Mr. Mauk assists them in defending against claims of malpractice in all stages of litigation. He enjoys working closely with medical professionals to help them navigate the litigation process. His years of experience in these cases help him quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of the medical issues in the case and develop the best strategy for successful resolution. He has amassed an impressive record, regularly obtaining dismissals through motions practice, defense verdicts at trial, or beneficial settlements from zealous negotiation. In addition, Mr. Mauk is experienced in guiding medical professionals through matters under the Colorado Candor Act and administrative matters with medical and nursing boards.

Prior to joining Childs McCune, Mr. Mauk gained significant experience as an attorney at a small litigation boutique firm in Denver handling medical malpractice defense and employment matters for healthcare organizations and medical professionals. He successfully advocated on behalf of professionals and corporations, as first or second chair, in over a dozen multi-day jury trials in both state and federal courts. He also assisted clients with a variety of commercial transactions, business formations, negotiations, acquisitions, and contractual matters. While there, he was named as a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers from 2017-2022.

Outside of the office, Mr. Mauk enjoys cheering for his hometown New York teams the Giants, Mets, and Islanders, or spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters. When he has time, you may even find him on the slopes reliving his younger days as a ski instructor in Jackson Hole
