Jared West

ATTORNEY

Jared West (he/him/his), an Avvo “superb” and five-star rated attorney, is an experienced litigator and transactional attorney who focuses his practice on products liability, commercial litigation, and medical malpractice defense in both Colorado state and federal courts.

Before joining Childs McCune, Jared gained significant experience at an elite litigation firm in Boulder where he garnered awards such as Rising Star, multiple Top Attorney awards by Colorado Springs, the Magazine (for Landlord Tenant Law, Contract Law, Civil Litigation, and Business Commercial Law), and Avvo’s Client Choice Award for his litigation and transactional work.  There, he helped individuals and businesses with a broad range of litigation and transactional issues.

Indeed, throughout his career, Jared has amassed experience in both civil and commercial litigation, having prosecuted and defended intentional torts (including defamation, assault, battery, malicious prosecution, abuse of process, fraud, conspiracy, securities fraud, and deceptive trade practices), professional liability and negligence claims, partitions, evictions, personal protection orders, HOA disputes, construction defect claims under CDARA, trademark infringement, shareholder disputes, premises liability claims, and products liability claims.

Jared also has assisted clients with a variety of commercial and real estate transactions, such as forming and selling businesses and drafting various contracts, including residential and commercial leases, independent contractor agreements, and construction contracts.  Additionally, he served the cannabis industry, assisting clients with their licensing, regulatory, and compliance needs.

During law school, Jared developed his legal skills through a wide range of professional experiences, including working for the Albuquerque Public Defenders Office (where he participated in a first degree murder trial that was featured on an episode of ABC’s Dateline), the Lincoln City Attorney’s Office, the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office, a nationally recognized Band 1 cannabis law firm, a boutique Denver law firm focusing on civil litigation and business transactions, and Kiewit Construction, a Fortune 500 company.  In addition to serving on several executive boards including the Student Bar Association, Jared participated in both moot court and law review, having won Best Brief in moot court and having his law review article, Nebraska Nonsense: Trojan Horse or Cash Crop?, about the Nebraska Hemp Farming Act, published in the Nebraska Law Review.

Jared is also very active in his communities.  For example, he regularly volunteers as a scoring judge for the Boulder Mock Trial Competition and mentors a University of Nebraska law student.  In addition to his extensive pro bono and volunteer efforts, Jared has presented The Eviction Process to the Colorado Association of Professional Interpreters (CAPI) at their Fall Conference 2022, and currently as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Cannabis Law Section of Colorado Bar Association.

Jared lives in Boulder County with his wife, dog, and two cats.  Inspired by his previous career in the hospitality industry, he likes all things food-related, including cooking and trying new restaurants.  He also enjoys being active outdoors in beautiful Colorado, running in the foothills of the Flatirons, playing guitar, and spending time with his family.
