Barrister’s Best recognizes attorneys whose skill, professionalism, and service have distinguished them among their colleagues throughout the state. Beginning this year, Law Week Colorado combined its former People’s Choice and Barrister’s Best categories into a single recognition, making this year’s award an even broader reflection of peer respect across the legal profession.

For more than four decades, Mark has represented hospitals, physicians, healthcare systems, and other licensed professionals in some of the industry’s most complex legal matters.

His practice spans healthcare litigation, regulatory compliance, professional liability defense, corporate governance, risk management, peer review, HIPAA compliance, telehealth, patient safety, and crisis response. Before joining Childs McCune Michalek, Mark served as General Counsel for COPIC, one of the region’s leading medical professional liability insurers, and throughout his career has tried more than 200 cases while serving as trusted outside counsel to healthcare organizations and physician groups.

Katherine focuses her practice on health care law and brings experience handling complex health care fraud and abuse matters. She approaches her work with a strong focus on client needs, professional development, and collaboration, and values working closely with her team to deliver practical legal solutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Katherine worked at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado, where she worked on health care fraud and abuse cases involving the False Claims Act, the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Physician Self-Referral Law (STARK), and opioid abuse matters, involving the Controlled Substances Act.

Childs McCune Michalek, LLC is excited to announce that attorney Cheyenne Moore has joined the firm. Cheyenne focuses her practice on premises liability, product liability, and personal injury matters. She is an experienced litigator with a strong background in motions practice, having successfully obtained dismissals of claims and negotiated favorable settlements for her clients. She also maintains an active appellate practice in both state and federal courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Cheyenne practiced at an Am Law 100 firm, where she handled a wide range of complex litigation matters nationwide, including product liability, commercial litigation, and automotive-related disputes. She has also served as national coordinating counsel in mass tort litigation and gained in-house experience as a secondee for an automotive client, where she advised on litigation strategy and regulatory compliance.

Childs McCune Michalek, LLC is excited to announce that attorney Katie Green has joined the firm. Katie focuses her practice on health care law, legal ethics, and professional licensure litigation. She represents individual and corporate clients in a range of litigation and transactional matters. Prior to joining the firm, Katie represented clients in real estate and commercial litigation and handled complex real estate transactions. She also served as outside general counsel to corporate and nonprofit clients, advising on corporate governance, compliance, and franchising matters.

Childs McCune Michalek, LLC is excited to announce that health care law attorney, Ellen Stewart, has joined the firm. Ellen represents hospitals, physicians, physician groups, ambulatory surgical centers, MSOs, IPAs and other forms of health care delivery systems and health-related entities in transactional and litigation matters. Her practice includes advising clients on corporate structure, acquisitions, partnerships and employment. Ellen also advises clients on contract issues, including agreements with managed care entities. She assists clients with regulatory compliance including Stark, Anti-Kickback and HIPAA.
