Childs McCune partner, Jordan Lipp, has been selected as 2023 Lawyer of the Year by Colorado Civil Justice League (CCJL). He received this award at CCJL’s Legislative Awards Luncheon on Oct. 10.

A longtime member of CCJL’s Legal Advisory Board, Jordan has broad experience representing manufacturers, including car, truck, farm and construction machinery, and oil and gas companies. However, Jordan’s expertise in outdoor recreation has been particularly valuable to CCJL and its members. Jordan was instrumental in drafting recent amendments to provide liability protection for agri-tourism. He likewise has practiced extensively in the Ski Safety Act and Equine Activities Act.

When a bill to address landowner liability was introduced in the legislature earlier this year, Jordan was the first to evaluate the bill and suggest improvements. He worked closely with proponents, and he provided informed and persuasive testimony during the bill’s only hearing. He has continued to work on behalf of CCJL with the Colorado Recreational Use Coalition during the interim.

Childs McCune Member Karin Williamson, who serves as Chair of the Mentorship Committee of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA), will moderate a Mentors Panel and Virtual CLE on the important topic of inclusivity in the legal Community on the evening of Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Seven Childs McCune LLC Attorneys Recognized in the 2024 Edition of THE BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA®. 

Cristel Shepherd joined the Childs McCune team from the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where she served as General Counsel to the Colorado State Pharmacy Board, among several other professional licensure boards housed within the Department of Regulatory Agencies. Prior to joining the Attorney Generals’ Office, Cristel worked for a top national law firm where she advocated on behalf of institutional lenders in state and federal court. Cristel is an avid animal lover and works with local rescues to find loving homes for animals. She loves summer and spending time outdoors with her family and dogs.

Jared West (he/him/his) joined Childs McCune after practicing at an elite litigation firm in Boulder where he garnered awards such as Rising Star, multiple Top Attorney awards by Colorado Springs, the Magazine, and Avvo’s Client Choice Award for his litigation and transactional work. Outside of work, inspired by his previous career in the hospitality industry, he likes all things food related, including cooking and trying new restaurants. He also enjoys running in the foothills of the Flatirons, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife, dog, and two cats.

Childs McCune is proud to announce the promotion of Sierra Ward to the ranks of its Members. Sierra became a Member effective January 1, 2023.

Sierra is an experienced litigator who has spent the last 3 years at Childs McCune successfully defending numerous individual and institutional clients throughout Colorado in the fields of healthcare and medical malpractice litigation, and administrative licensure proceedings.

Prior to joining Childs McCune in 2020, Sierra worked for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. As a former Senior Assistant Attorney General who served as litigation and general counsel to the Colorado Medical Board, Sierra possesses a strong skill set and in-depth knowledge that enables her to effectively advocate for her clients in complex matters involving medical, financial, and regulatory issues. Before that, Sierra represented individual clients and financial institutions in trust and estate matters.

Sierra’s contributions to the firm and the legal community exhibit the leadership qualities Childs McCune values in its Members. Sierra serves on the firm’s hiring committee and its diversity, equity, & inclusion committee. Sierra’s leadership in the legal community includes serving on the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee since being appointed in 2020.
